Samvel Studios was founded by Samvel Manukian in the summer of 2006. Although the Samvel Studios brand of gothic jewelry is relatively new, Samvel himself has been involved in the jewelry industry for many years. Samvel Manukian first discovered his passion for jewelry making as a teenager growing up in Soviet Armenia, an ancient cultural capital known for its fine craftsmanship through the use of old traditions. After entering National Academy of fine art his interests shifted towards design and upon graduation Samvel Manukian became at first a designer and soon after an art director of one of the top Armenian design and advertising agencies. In 1989, Samvel and his team won a prestigious International design competition held in Vilnius, the culture-rich capital of Lithuania.

In the early 1990s Samvel Manukian migrated to the US with his family, and settled in LA. There, the young Samvel started as a designer for a fine jewelry manufacturer where he rediscovered his passion for sterling silver jewelry craft. In 1995 Samvel opened 3D SM: a manufacturing company dedicating to production of high end sterling silver jewelry. For many years, Samvel collaborated with several top design labels such as Star Knights and King Baby to produce gothic silver jewelry. Samvel Manukian’s desire to express himself freely through his jewelry without being fettered by the opinions of others ultimately leads him to start his own line, now known as Samvel Studios.
