Gothic Jewelry Room 101 & Matt Booth

Who is Matt Booth, and what is Room 101?

ROOM 101 is a designer label luxury brand of gothic jewelry founded in 2003 by musician Matt Booth, who was sparked by his obsession with custom jewelry to create his own brand. Like almost every other biker jewelry designer out there, Matt Booth’s history has been anything but normal. Matt Booth is a keen jeweler, bass player, tattooist, and to top it all off, Matt Booth is an ex-member of an elite US Marines unit.

Matt Booth's Sources of Inspiration

As a U.S. Marine posted to the Far East, Matt Booth found the rich culture in Asia and the Middle East especially intriguing. Matt Booth’s life as a marine proved to be a significant period both in his personal life and his career as a jeweler. Matt Booth relocated back to Hollywood in 2000 to pursue music as a bass player. Along the way, Matt Booth stumbled onto jewelry through his involvement in the music scene and “immediately became obsessed and started tinkering with the craft.”  Matt Booth quickly identified a market for sterling silver biker jewelry, and set about building a name for himself in the biker jewelry scene. Room 101 was born in 2003 and is currently approaching its 7th anniversary. It is this fusion of Asian Influence coupled with many nights of soaking up the vibes on the Sunset Strip that give Room 101 its foundation in both style and design. As a result of his rock musician roots, Matt Booth’s Room 101 designs are also edgy, deep and somewhat anarchistic in mood and style. As a result of his Asian experiences, Matt Booth’s Room 101 sterling silver biker jewelry pieces successfully create a paganistic, ritualistic look which few jewelers have been able to recreate as well as Room 101 has. Years later, Matt Booth’s Asian experiences became the catalyst for his creation of FU, the icon of Matt Booth’s Room 101 Collection.

Matt Booth’s Room 101 gothic jewelry is a cut above most; the pieces feel delightfully heavy and well-made. Room 101 gothic jewelry pieces are luxuriously comfortable to wear, and the attention to detail in every piece of sterling silver biker jewelry is unsurpassed. While Room 101 has also begun venturing into diamond, platinum and white gold jewelry to cater to a wider range of fans of sterling silver, Room 101’s gothic jewelry collection remains the hallmark of the Room 101 brand, and avid bikers continue to form the bulk of Matt Booth’s clientele.

Over the past three years, Room 101 gothic jewelry has been featured in top lifestyle, fashion, and specialty magazines globewide, and has made appearances on major network television. Room 101 is steadily gaining momentum, and Room 101’s foreign and domestic markets continuing to grow. Today, Room 101's gothic jewelry is carried in many select boutiques globewide.
