All about Ron Bryant, founder of One Too Many
From outside the circle of established designer labels such as Chrome Hearts, Crazy Pig, SoulFetish, Nagual, Gaboratory and Room 101, a new creative force to reckon with has appeared. Creating sterling silver gothic jewelry designs which are just as intricate and gorgeously appealing as Chrome Hearts does is up-and-coming designer Ron Bryant.
Ron Bryant (aka DROPDEAD as some close friends know him), is a surprisingly down-to-earth guy who avoids creating sometimes pretentious hell-rider impressions about himself. Instead, he believes that his true personality and character will exhibit themselves strongly through his artworks.
Ron Bryant of ONE TOO MANY has always been pursuing art in some form or other, having dabbled in drawing, painting, designing t-shirts & skate boards. Ron Bryant adhoc involvement in art ended one day when his close friend spotted a complete tattoo set on sale at the Santa Cruz Swap Meet and persuaded Ron Bryant to grab it at what could only be described as a fortuitously huge discount. It had everything Ron Bryant needed to teach himself how to tattoo. Beginning with his own leg, Ron Bryant eventually became good enough to persuade most of his Santa Cruz buddies to let him draw his design on them. It was time to move on. Ron Bryant moved to Hollywood for a bit & finally Venice for a few chaotic and enjoyable years. Then, Ron Bryant took a long break from the tattoo world and spent few years chopping down trees... Although Ron Bryant still tattoos on occasion, it's all custom work and mostly for close friends at this point. As far as leather and silver goes, Ron Bryant got into it seriously in 2003. Ron Bryant had dabbled in it when he was younger (Ron Bryant still has a customized leather jacket that he made for himself back in his Santa Cruz days). But when Ron Bryant began working in the "art department" for a custom leather & silver company, he realized how his background in art, leather and silver worked together to make crazy custom creations. After a couple of years as an employee, Ron Bryant decided to move on, take a leap of faith, and become his own boss. He started his company, which he named ONE TOO MANY. Instead of falling back on his tattooing (which would have been easy to do), Ron Bryant decided to plunge into the chaotic world of sterling silver biker jewelry. It had been a lot of work starting ONE TOO MANY, but at the same time, Ron Bryant found entrepreneurship with ONE TOO MANY an amazing experience.
On display are some of the first items designed and created since Ron Bryant started his company ONE TOO MANY in 2005. Although Ron Bryant has created many other custom wallets, seats, and a few silver rings, it had always been for someone else...living someone else's dream. ONE TOO MANY is a new beginning for Ron Bryant, since this time Ron Bryant gets to do it for himself. Creating custom items, whether it is a hand-tooled leather wallet or something with exotic skins and detailed art inlays, Ron Bryant is constantly fascinated by the craft of leather work and the intricacies of silver. As a tattoo artist with many years of experience, Ron Bryant has always focused on creating custom pieces inspired by suggestions made by some of his ONE TOO MANY clients.
Ron Bryant is one of those people that gets into something & completely obsesses about it. Suddenly Ron Bryant wakes up one day, something else will pique his interest and he'll have a new obsession. Ron Bryant’s girl always jokes when the new obsession kicks in that it's his "new girlfriend". As long as it's not actually a new girlfriend, Ron Bryant’s girl is pretty cool with it. Ron Bryant usually gets a wild hair, sells it and move on to something new. It is in his character to get bored of the status quo and seek out new exploits. This translates into ONE TOO MANY producing some of the quirkiest, newest jewelry patterns the industry has seen.
